Gooderstone
A village built on one very long street and dominated by the huge carrot processing factory at the eastern end. The little River Gadder runs along parallel with the village and is one of the cleanest in Norfolk. At the heart of the village stands the attractive church, next to a neat modern Primary School. On the opposite side of the road is the 'Black Swan', not much to look at on the outside, but a pleasant friendly place inside. The lane from the church through to the Cockley Cley road is liable to flooding in the 'wet season', but nothing to daunt the cautious cyclist. There is a wonderful water garden extending from the little river at the eastern end of the village, once neglected but now open to the public.
The new owners have restored the gardens and they are open to the public once again, (pictures left).
